The current library is very outdated and has been very well enjoyed (We have all had those dog eared delicate pages sent home each week!) However relying on only a very small village school budget, our school have asked if Friends of Newbald School can help. So we are appealing to all parents to chip in pounds for pages!
Books for school average at £6:50 each, we want to provide a full new diverse and exciting mix of fiction and nonfiction across both key stages to ensure every one of our children has the opportunity to read.
Now, more than ever, it is vital our children have access to books - reading skills have been hit particularly hard by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic- sadly, our children at Newbald are not excluded from the impact – but our support will turn this around.
Quality texts are extremely important in supporting vocabulary expansion, memory improvement, improved focus and better writing skills. Fostering a love of reading has also been found to improve mental wellbeing through escapism.
We’re aiming to raise £3000 so that all of our children can become fluent, confident readers enjoying books for curiosity, research and pleasure as they move through their learning adventures.
Thank you for your support- every pound will make a big difference to our children!
