Bolnore Village Primary School (BVPS) opened its doors to children in October 2010. The school was built following a parent led campaign and from the beginning, the school has had deep roots in the community - our motto is 'It takes a village to raise a child'. That's why this application is a joint one between the school and the Friends of Bolnore Village Primary School.
We have grown year on year to become a highly regarded 2-form entry school with a total of 413 pupils with capacity for 420. As the school has grown, our original outdoor space isn't sufficient to enable all the children to have high quality and safe outdoor learning and play space.
So far, we have raised tens of thousands of pounds towards our fundraising target through the combined efforts of the school and the local community. We're looking to raise the rest of the money over the coming months to enable us to start work over the summer. We'll use this to build a multi-use games are so the children have a safe play to play, whatever the weather.
The facility would have a transformative impact on the way that our children play, exercise and learn enabling:
- children to have uninterrupted playtimes, with space to run around in a safe environment and enjoy PE lessons throughout the year.
- potentially expanding the number of after school clubs
- local community groups to hire the facility
